OVER 18

•      HFs may call concerned about students who have been out all night.

•      For 18+ students, a report can be made to police (after 24hrs) but this is best done by the HF, who can usually describe the student in more detail & will know how long they’ve been missing & what they may have been wearing.

•      Please sympathetic and listen to the HF, reassure them and tell them that they have done the right thing to call you.

•      Ask questions: is this normal behaviour? Do they have any idea where the std may have gone? Do they have a mobile phone no for the std? Does the std have any particular friends who may know where they are?

•      Ask HF to let you know when std reappears – check it in school.

•      Always follow up and tell welfare officer if necessary so they can talk to the std about staying out and not informing the HF

If a report does need to be completed, you need to inform the director or student director. If there is any area for real concern or if you are not sure please contact us or speak to a colleague to get a second opinion.
